Drawing inspiration from Julian More’s book, Pagnol’s Provence, we will visit iconic film locations that brought Pagnol’s stories to the screen. Explore Haute Provence, where the majestic Montagne de Lure, Contadour, and Ganagobie set the scene for memorable moments from Regain and The Baker’s Wife.
This journey offers you a rare glimpse into daily life in Provence, allowing you to connect with the rhythms of the local inhabitants. Stroll through the breathtaking L’Etoile Range and the picturesque Cassis, and wander through the charming village of La Treille, where much of Jean de Florette was filmed.

Nestled on the outskirts of the charming village of Forcalquier, our hotel embodies the quintessential spirit of Provence—so picturesque that it could have been plucked straight from a Pagnol novel. As the sun begins to set, you can immerse yourself in the local culture by trying your hand at boule while sipping a chilled glass of pastis, the beloved aperitif of the region. When evening falls, we’ll venture into the countryside to savour authentic Provencal cuisine at a selection of delightful local restaurants, where the flavours of the region come alive.
After our Forcalquier adventure, we make our way to the enchanting seaside port of Cassis, where we’ll spend the final two nights. Our hotel, just minutes from the bustling harbour, offers a tranquil escape with its lovely garden setting, complete with a pool and spa—a perfect spot to unwind after a day of exploration.
In the evenings, we’ll indulge in the freshest Mediterranean seafood at charming eateries in the old town. Each meal promises to be a feast for the senses, showcasing the vibrant flavours and culinary traditions of this stunning coastal region.Â
