Overview
Embark on a journey to the enchanting Austrian Lakes District, where sunshine, majestic mountains, and pristine crystal-clear lakes await. Our carefully curated walks lead you through picturesque landscapes, from gentle rolling hills to towering peaks, tranquil valleys, alpine streams, and charming villages adorned with traditional geranium-filled chalets. Highlights of this region include the breathtaking views from Loser Peak, overlooking Lake Altaussee and Lake Grundlsee, as well as the renowned Three Lakes Walk, which guides you to the serene shores of Lake Toplitz. Along the way, indulge in the region’s culinary delights, savouring local flavours in some of Austria’s most romantic and idyllic settings.
The adventure continues into the welcoming Leutasch Valley, nestled along the Wetterstein mountain range at the border of Austria and Germany. This valley exudes a quintessential “country” charm, with quaint village churches, fields of hay, and untouched alpine forests. Our walks here lead us through the scenic Gais Valley, celebrated for its alpine meadows and breathtaking trails, as well as its connection to renowned German-language author Ludwig Ganghofer. The vibrant Austrian hospitality will enchant you, but it might take some willpower to resist the irresistible aroma of freshly baked strudel drifting from the inviting outdoor cafés.
Next, we journey across the Brenner Pass into northern Italy, home to the awe-inspiring Dolomites, often referred to as the “King of the Alps”. The jagged, rocky peaks of this mountain range are particularly striking at sunset, when the mountains are bathed in a captivating pink glow known as “Alpenglow”. Explore lush, flower-filled meadows and famous mountain ranges, including the impressive Stella Group and the Puez-Geisler National Park, offering unforgettable views and immersive walks through this unique alpine wonderland.
