Overview
Discover the enchanting beauty of the Byron Bay region and beyond on our exclusive “Byron and Beyond” tour. We are fortunate to call this idyllic paradise our part-time home and are excited to share its wonders with our Walkabout community. From the pristine beaches to the lush hinterland, this tour promises an immersive experience of the area’s diverse landscapes and cultural richness.
Starting from our base in Byron Bay, we explore the breathtaking natural attractions of Northern New South Wales, including the famed Northern Rivers. Known traditionally as “Cavanbah” or “meeting place” by the Bundjalung people, Byron Bay continues to honour its rich Indigenous heritage, offering a harmonious blend of natural beauty and cultural significance.
Our journey takes us through coastal subtropical rainforests, including the awe-inspiring Nightcap National Park. Here, you’ll be mesmerised by the towering massifs, dramatic cliff walls, verdant valleys, and cascading waterfalls—all remnants of the region’s volcanic origins.
We also visit the renowned Springbrook National Park, a World Heritage-listed site within the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia. One of the highlights of this walk is the stunning Natural Bridge, a spectacular rock formation shaped by the powerful waterfall over an ancient basalt cave. Meanwhile, the striking drop of Minyon Falls provides a dramatic reminder of the area’s geological history, carved by millennia of erosion.
No visit would be complete without exploring Cape Byron, the easternmost point of Australia. This nature reserve offers unparalleled panoramic views of the ocean and the lush hinterland that stretches to the horizon, making it a perfect spot for reflection and inspiration.
Another cornerstone of this tour is our connection to Sreejith, an inspirational yoga and meditation teacher we met during our travels in India. His profound understanding of traditional practices has deeply influenced this experience. A morning meditation session at the mystical Minyon Falls is a standout moment, offering a serene start to your day. Whether you’re an experienced yogi or trying meditation for the first time, Sreejith’s guidance ensures an unforgettable experience.
Our days often begin with optional yoga or meditation, though we believe that after one session with Sreejith, you won’t want to miss it again! We also offer a unique cooking seminar, where we share early recipes and culinary secrets from our forthcoming cookbook, Flavours of Walkabout. You’ll get a taste of the healthy and delicious dishes inspired by our global journeys and our passion for mindful eating.
